The Sigma Delta Pi is the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society.
Undergraduates
Undergraduate sophomores, juniors, and seniors are eligible if they are currently enrolled in one or more upper-level Spanish courses, and:
- Have completed 2 upper-level Spanish courses, numbered 3200 or above, at Georgetown or in a Georgetown program abroad, one of which examines Hispanophone literature, culture, and/or civilization.
- Have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above in Spanish courses numbered 2001 (Advanced or Intensive Advanced) and above.
- Have an overall GPA of 3.2 or above.
Graduate Students
Graduate students are eligible if they have completed 15 credits of graduate courses in Spanish, including two literature courses, and have an A- average. Those who are already members of another chapter should contact Prof. Borowitz at Molly.Borowitz@georgetown.edu
Election to Sigma Delta Pi
Election to Sigma Delta Pi is based on scholarship in general, a high level of attainment in the study of the Spanish language, and a genuine interest in Hispanophone history and culture. Accepted students must attend the initiation ceremony (held during the first week in May), and must pay a one-time dues charge of $25, which includes a certificate, a pin, and an honor cord upon graduation.

To apply, please complete the online application form and upload your unofficial transcript. The 2027 application cycle will open on 11 January, and close on 15 March.
