  • Job Description:
    • Instructor of record for SPAN 3000-level tutorial
    • Prepare description and summer syllabus of a Departmental course level 3000 or above
    • Design midterm and final exams for the course
    • Upload texts, bibliography, and other materials relevant to the course to Canvas
    • Design assignments/research for the course
    • Hold a minimum of 40 contact hours withthe student via Zoom
  • Job requirements
    • MA/MS in Spanish in hand
    • Native or near-native command of Spanish
    • Completion of SPAN 5000: Spanish Teacher Education
    • Minimum one year of teaching experience at the Spanish 3000 level or above in Georgetown’s Department of Spanish and Portuguese
    • Excellent student evaluations
    • Leadership skills
    • Comfortable using technology for language teaching and familiarity with Canvas
    • Regular attendance at the Spanish Department Pedagogy Workshops.
    • Satisfactory academic progress
  • Hiring procedure and criteria
    • To be eligible for this position, an applicant must be a current graduate student at Georgetown University and authorized to work in the U.S. The review of each applicant’s submission will be based on the advertised job requirements (see list of job requirements). Candidates who are successful in this examination process will be placed on a list in rank order. The top candidate will be extended an offer of employment through the Department of Spanish and Portuguese.
