Department of Spanish and Portuguese, represented in the 2017 Graduate Student Awards

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese was very well represented in the 2017 edition of the Graduate Student Awards.

Many members of our department were nominated to this ceremony. In particular, we extend our congratulations to Janire Zalbidea and Alfredo Poggi, who were awarded with the Graduate Student Teaching Award in Social Sciences and Humanities, respectively. Janire Zalbidea was also honored with the Dr. Karen Gale Exceptional PhD Student Awatd. In addition, Abel Cruz received the Outstanding Graduate Student Organization Award in his role as Vice-Pesident, Treasurer, and founding member of the Georgetown University Graduate Association of Mexican Students.

In addition, congratulations to the rest of members of our department who were nominated to these awards: Abel Cruz Flores, Christine Bistline-Bonilla, Gabriela DeRobles, Inés Corujo Martín, Jafte Dilean Robles Lomeli, Jorge Méndez Seijas, María Mónica Vallín, Óscar Amaya Ortega, Iván Andrés Espinosa Orozco, and Will Travers (Graduate Student Teaching Award); Alfredo Ignacio Poggi and Jorge Méndez Seijas (Exceptional PhD Student Award), and Professor Ronald Leow and Professor Verónica Salles-Reese (Gerald M. Mara Faculty Mentoring Award).
