SIGMA DELTA PI - NATIONAL HISPANIC HONOR SOCIETY
Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society, is currently accepting applications for membership by February 22, 2019.
Sophomores, juniors and seniors are eligible if they:
1. Have completed 2 upper-level Spanish courses numbered 230 or above at Georgetown or in a Georgetown program abroad, one of which is in literature, linguistics, or culture and civilization.
2. Have a GPA of 3.5 in Spanish courses from Advanced or Intensive Advanced and above.
Graduate students are eligible if they have completed 15 credits of graduate courses in Spanish and have a B+ average. Those who are already members of another chapter are Sigma Delta Pi members for life and do not need to be reinducted.
Admission to Sigma Delta Pi is based on scholarship in general, a high level of attainment in the study of Spanish, and a genuine interest in things Hispanic. Accepted students must attend the initiation ceremony on April 25th , 2019 at 5pm. A one-time dues charge of $25 includes membership for life, a membership pin, and a membership certificate.
Please submit a hard copy of the application form and an unofficial Georgetown transcript to the mailbox of Prof. Adam Lifshey in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese, 4 th floor in the ICC. The deadline for submitting the application is Friday, February 22, 2019.
