Lina Meruane (Chile, 1970) has published fiction and essays, including Las infantas (short stories, 1998), the novels Póstuma (2000), Cercada (2000), Fruta podrida, and Sangre en el ojo (2012). Her writings have been translated to many languages. Her non-fiction books include: Viajes virales (2012, about AIDS in Latin America), Volverse Palestina (2013), and Contra los hijos (2014).

She has been awarded Mexico’s Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Prize for Literature, a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Anna Seghers Prize of Germany, and grants from the NEA. She teaches World Literature and Creative Writing at New York University.
